Types of Religion

Religion

We all have a religion, but which one is the most important to you? This article explores some of the different types of religion. We’ll discuss the more exoteric forms of religion, as well as the monotheistic religions. We’ll look at Judaism and Sikhism, as well as the emergence of the modern world religions. We’ll also discuss some of the major religious organizations and their main concepts.

Exoteric form of religion

Historically, Marcion has been considered a Gnostic, but more recent scholarship disagrees with this label. According to Harnack, Marcion was guided by soteriological interest and emphasized faith, but did not incorporate aspects of Semitic secret cults or Greek philosophy of religion. Marcion did not make any distinction between exoteric and esoteric forms of religion. Today, there are several schools of thought that identify Marcion as a Gnostic.

Monotheistic religions

The Hebrew Bible is the source of monotheism in the modern Western World. However, the Bible itself was written in the fourth and third centuries BCE, which means that it may have received influences from non-biblical religions such as those of Egypt and Syria. This is why we find mentions of Egyptian and Hittite culture in the Torah, as well as in the stories of Abraham and Moses. While these religions have different definitions of monotheism, the Bible does contain similar teachings about love and peace.

Judaism

Jewish religion is rooted in the belief that God created the world and that humans are the tenants of that creation. Every day, Jews recite numerous benedictions in their daily lives. These prayers are required in order to perform commandments or enjoy the world around them. Jews believe that the earth is God’s domain and humans are only tenants and must acknowledge that before enjoying its fruits. There are two types of Jews, ultra-orthodox and traditional.

Sikhism

Sikhism, also known as Sikh Dharma or Sikhi, is a religion originating in the Indian subcontinent. It originated in the Punjab region around the 15th century CE. Sikhi is a religion that focuses on love, compassion, and equality. This is a unique and fascinating faith that has many similarities to Christianity. Here are some of its most important traits. And, of course, it’s definitely not for everyone.
