Articles about Entertaiment

Entertaining is audience-centered commercial culture that keeps people amused, engaged, diverted, and emotionally elicited. It has evolved into a significant industry providing livelihoods to many.

It is a form of art and can take on a variety of forms ranging from private entertainment to banquets designed for two, to performances for thousands. Entertaining can be serious, such as in the case of a religious festival or a political satire, but it is overwhelmingly associated with amusement. Its roots are in the Medieval Latin intertenere and its Indo-European root ten, meaning “to hold.” Entertain also means to “retain or stretch,” as in a story.
