Entertaiment | Articles
From the Latin word for “to entertain,” entertainment refers to amusement or distraction. A clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show, stadium rock concerts, your friends fighting over the last potato chip—all of these are forms of entertainment. Entertainment can also be found in the form of literature, movies, and television shows.
While the majority of entertainment is fun and lighthearted, many types have a more serious purpose. This is particularly true of ceremonies, festivals, religious celebrations, and satire. Many forms of entertainment also hit on themes that the human brain was evolved to deeply react to, such as social backstabbing and murder.
