Entertaiment is the activity of enjoying, amusing or releiving oneself. The activities can take place in a variety of contexts and for any size of audience, from an individual who selects his or her entertainment from the enormous array of pre-recorded products; to two people at a banquet; to performances intended for thousands. The connections between different forms of entertainment are evident, for example, when a story such as Scheherazade (a tale in the professional storytelling tradition) inspires Rimsky-Korsakov and other composers to create orchestral works; Pasolini to make a film; or innovative video games.
Entertainment can be important to a person’s life because it allows them to escape from the stresses of daily living and provides opportunities for family growth.
